Many students feel that they would like to get started on their reading before the semester begins. The modules in the Psychological Studies program covers a wide range of topic area, the University does not suggest a set text for each module; instead there will be recommended books and journals listed in each module handbook. You may also check up on the lecture materials, which will be available 2 weeks before the module begins.
It is also advised that you do the following to help prepare for your course:
- Either continue, or get into the habit of, reading a serious newspaper and following news and current affairs programmes on the radio - you will find a number of your subjects easier if your general knowledge is sound.
- Take any opportunity to improve on your computer/technological abilities. You will need to be capable of word-processing your work and using spreadsheets.
- Take time to read up on SPSS - a key statistical program that is used plenty in this program. Get a headstart by reading/watching Youtube videos about the program and how it functions.
